Library Legend Award

Criteria

Each year, one person or group will be named a Library Legend to supplement the 100 Legends selected in 2007 for the Centennial celebration. Recognition is based on significant contributions to the growth, development, and excellence of Oklahoma's libraries.

The Awards Committee will consider persons from all types of libraries including school libraries, school library systems, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, public libraries, academic and campus libraries and special libraries. The person does not need to be a librarian or a current resident of Oklahoma. Benefactors are eligible.

It is not required that this award be given in every year. No more than 10 Legends may be added in a 10-year period.

If you prefer to submit a nomination by mail rather than using the online form, please print off and send in this form (PDF) as well as the three other documents listed below:

  • OLA Award Nomination Application
  • A letter of nomination that addresses the significance and level of the person or group's contributions to library development in the state.
